Introducing some simple incentives
will make a big difference to the success of car sharing. For example:
Guaranteed Ride Home
The Guaranteed Ride Home would also be a comforting safety net
for all staff who walk to work, cycle or use public transport.
Everyone who travels other than one-person in a car will thank
you for it.
Organisations with company or essential
car users among the managers and staff may simply arrange to
run people home as needed. Others prefer to establish an account
with a local taxi firm guaranteeing staff a ride home.
Although this may sound expensive, in reality
it is hardly ever used or abused.
Priority car share bays
Usually located close to the main entrance these provide prominent,
guaranteed and convenient parking for car sharing employees.
Meet and Greet Sessions
Informal get-togethers to introduce potential sharers can be
helpful for increasing the numbers of car sharers. For the price
of coffee and biscuits, you can significantly increase levels
of car sharing.
Vouchers and Prizes
You could offer vouchers as an incentive to join the scheme
and run a monthly draw for a free car wash or valet.
